Description

This image was the object of most of a summer and fall imaging effort, resulting in this eight pane mosaic of the Cygnus region. I had to add various intermediate areas, since I never originally planned on doing a mosaic of the region, so hadn't optimized the individual image locations. I couldn't have believed I would have spent so much time on this area, but it is indeed fascinating.

I have attempted to emphasize the weak emission, but that is always at the expense of the stronger, so I'm never certain that I've made the best choices overall for the mosaic. Each panel has ten hours of exposure, so 80 hours total for the mosaic (not counting frames that weren't used for some reason). The total field of view is approximately 20x20 degrees, about 10 arcsec/pixel. All processing in Maxim, with a DDP stretch and unsharp mask applied.
